Football.

The last football match of the season was played in Victoria Park on Thursday, when the Waimate Club’s team met the Timaru Star. The day -was very cold, and not many spectators faced the biting wind. The visitors won the toss and played with the wind. In the first spell, even against, the wind, Waimate had rather the better of the game. L. Thomas made an excollenl attempt at scoring, only being collared on the line. Want of form told in the second spell, and even playing with the wind Waimate x>ere hard pressed, Star scoring only once, however. The game ended —Star 9 points, Waimate nil. Mr 0. J. Goldatone made an excellent referee.
