Concert and Dance.
On Friday evening last, in the schoolroom, a concert and dance in aid of the school funds was held under the auspices of the Hook School Committee. Mr H. Steffens, chairman of the Comuutf'e, presided. All the singers were in goa l voice, encores being the order of the evening, and though the performance was late in st u ling, it was most enjoyable, The following is the programme ; Part L—Overture, Miss Hardy ; song, “ Dolly Gray,” Mr Philip ; song, “ The Valley by the Sea,” Miss Ka'tray ; song, “ A Soldier and a Man,” Mr Wills ; song, “Rothesay Bay,” Mrs Shaw song, “The Bugler,” Mr Goldstone ; recitation, “ Amateur Rider,” Mi Dash ; song, “ Asrimre,” Miss Cartwright ; duct, “ The Cioddt Bawbee,” Mr and Mrs Shaw; snnj, “The Soldi, r Boy’s Motto,” Mbs Mcllwnck. Part 11. Overture, M ss Hardy ; song, “ Home, Hoys, Home,” Mr Goldstone ; song, Good-bye, Mavoameen,” Miss Cartwright; song, “ The Song’that will Live for Ever,” Mr Shaw ; song, “ Our Boys’ Return,” Miss Rittray ; recitation, “The Ha'd Shell Baptist,” Mr Dash; song, “ The Kerry I) nice,” Mips Mclhvriek ; song, “ The Sea is England’s Glory,” Mr "Wills : song, “ Daddv,” Mrs Shaw ; song, “ Fa,i her 0 Flynn,” Mr Philip. At the conclusion of the concert Mr Steffens thanked those present for their attendance. Ho referred to the tact that owing to the Education Board making so smalt a grant for im-’dental expenses in the school, iho Committee were forced to make calls on the people to help can y on, calls which ho was pleased to say vvere always well responded to. On his ca 1, votes of thanks were passed to the performers for their very large share in making the concert ’he success it was.
Cheers w-wo given for , the chairman, and the room was cleared for dancing This was kept up wiih spirit till 3 a.ni. to ihe music of Messr-i Saunders and Wilson, and under the able management of Mr F. Andrews.
