Waimate Fire Brigade.

A meeting of the Wafraate Fire Brigade was held on Tuesday evening, Captain J. Sinclair presiding, and there being also present Messrs A. C<>lville, C. Wilson, F. Oolville, H. Dookerill. F. Wilce, H. Watts, M. Emerson, Hall, Turner, and A. Berry (s<c) A letter was received from theß >rough Council re the subsidy which the later would give the Brigade. The Council offered £ls per year and the o at of ad upkeep *f plant, etc., including uniforms and boots.

On the motion of Lieut. A. 0 llviiie and foreman Watts it was decided to. accept the terras offwed by the Council.

Branchman's Ward's resignation was accepted with regret. Mr C. Kirby was elected a member of the Brigade. ANNUAL MEETING. It was decided to hold the annual meeting, which had besn hcl 1 over. The election of officers resulted as follows :—Captain, Mr J. Sinclair (reelected); Lieutenant, Mr A. Colville (re-elected); hoee foreman, Mr H. Watts (re-elected) ; hook «nd ladder for»rh%ri, Mr F. Wilce (re-elected) ;' bw.chmen, Messrs M. Emerson and Turner ; sec/and caretaker Mr A. Berry (re-elected). Lieutenant Colvillo suggested tha,b a dummy hydrant should be procured so as to give members a ohanct- to practise tor the competitions. He moved that Captain Sinclair write re leasing a manual engine. This was agreed to. Lieutenant Colville brought up the question of holding a public social, and it was • decided to hold a sosul on October 9.

Tickets were fixed at 3s 6d, arrangements being left in the hands of the officers.

It was decided to ohalienge the Hibernian Society to ft crib and euchre match on Faiday evening next, if suitable. Votes of thanks to the press and the chairman brought the meeting to a close.
