The Coronation.
Sir J. G. Ward annouueed in the House that the Governor had received an official intimation that the Coronation would take place on August 9th. Sir J. G. Ward added that he proposed to adjourn Parliament from the previous Thursday night till the afternoon of the following Tuesday. It was intended to have one public holiday throughout the colony, namely, Saturday, August 9th. A request had been made to have the holiday on .Monday instead of Saturday. The Government had fully considered the request and had come to the conclusion that it was not desirable.to change the date. The whole of the demonstrations would take place on Saturday. A meeting of the Coronation Committee was held last evening, His Worship the Mayor presiding. The Mayor stated that the Government had proclaimed a public holiday on the 9th August. It was decided to carry out the programme as already arranged, with the exception of the lunch to school children, which was carried out on June 26th. ®lt was decided to present medals to returned troopers on the arrival of the procession at the Park.
