War's Harvest.
In reckoning up the South Africiu campaign death-roll of the kiilud in action, the following lists of the English and Boer officers, with their ranks, are interesting:— British—Major-General Sir W. Ponu-Symons, Commander Egerton, K.N., Lieutenant - Colonel Keith Falconer, Major - General Wauchope, Lieutenant - Colonel Dick Cunyngham, V.C., MajorGeneral Sir Edward Woodgate, Lieutenat-Colonel the Earl of Airlin, Lieutenant Colonel Vandeleur, Lieutenant-Colonel Le Gallais. Boer Commandant Philip Botha, Commandant Hans Botha, Commandant Manie Botha, Commandant Van der Merve, Colonel Villebois de Mareuil, Commandant Lommer, Commandant Wolmarans. Commandant Erasmus, Commandant Theron. One Boer General died of wounds, and General Joaberfc died of disease. Of those captured, the Boer list of officers was a heavy one. While we had only one General taken (Lord Methuen), the Boors had three—namely, Genorals Conjo, Prinsloo, and Ben Yiljoen.
