Library Committee.
The regular monthly meeting of the Committee was held in the Fire Brigade station last evening ; present —Messrs W. M. Hamilton (chairman), Menzies, Nicol, Smith, Cox, C. A. Wilson, C. Akhurst, Milsom, and Graham. An apology was read from Mr Scott.
Mr P. Grant wrote tendering his resignation as secretary. The resignation was accepted with regret, and a motion was passed expressing high appreciation of Mr Grant’s services.
Mr C. Akhurst was asked to act as secretary, but declined, as he had not time. Finally, on the motion of Messrs Cox and Menzies, Mr G. H. Graham was appointed soretary. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Accounts amounting to £3O 3s were passed for payment. The tender of Mr E. Williams was accepted for the supply _of coal and wood for the ensuing year. It was resolved that the chairman and Messrs Milsom, C» Akhurst, and Graham report to the present committee as to revised list of papers and magazines, with a view to making fresh arrangements. After a good deal of discussion on the subject of hours of opening and closing, and regulations for the library, it was resolved that the librarian attend the library from 9.30 to 10.30 a.m., from 1.30 to 5 p.m., and from 6.80 to 10 p.m., except on Tuesdays, when the time of opening will be from 9.30 to 10.30 a.m. and G3O to 10 p.m.; and that the chairman and Messrs Menzies, C. Akhurst, and Graham be a committee to am to the proper carrying out of the regulations of the library ; holidays for the librarian to be arranged for by the chairman.
