Saturday Night’s Illuminations.
In preparation for the Coronation celebrations the County Council bad arranged to have the windows illuminated, and everything was complete when the news of postponement arrived. As the transparencies could not be left up indefinitely it was decided to show them on Saturday night, so as to give the public an opportunity of “ seeing what they missed.” The display was indeed a fine one and wctald have done to the large centres. The windows at one end represented “ War ” and at the other “Peace,” while the front was devoted to transparencies of the King and_ Queen and numbers of patriotic mottos, A large crowd inspected the decorations and lavished as mnch praise on them as the Council could wish. On a screen in the entrance hall Mr Fred Smith displayed a series of lantern views, many local ones being rerwivf'd wpb I every thing was in readiness.
