Our Volunteers.

The Waitnate Rifles paraded last evening, 35 strong, under Capt. Barclay and Lieut. Jackson. The Company was given muskotiy instruction.« Capt. Barclay int.mated that every man would be expected to turn out on parade on Coronation Day. At a social and shooting com-1 mittee meeting afterwards the matter of getting Morris tubes for Martini or Lee-Enfield rifles was held over till enquiries had been made at the School of Instruction. A circular was received stating that a meeting of intending members of a Canterbury Rifle Association would be held in Christ's College orderly room. Christchurch on 4th July, and asking how many in the district would be likely to compete at the Rifle meeting. At a meeting held in Christchurch on May 23, for the purpose of forming a Canterbury Rifle Association it wes decided that the meeting form itself into an association, to be called " The Canterbury Rifle Association," its object to be tinholding of m annual all-comers champion rifle meeting, manag«*.u by a council of seven representing the various districts. The subscription is to be 5s per annum.

The social committee reported that tickets were selling well. Arrangements were made for iecoration of the hall.
