DEPARTURE OF THE NORTHERN TROOPS 4ND THE PREMIER.

Wellington, April 14. The North Island section of the Tenth New Zealand Regiment embarked to-day on the Drayton Grange. The departure of the troops, who are accompanied by the Premier, Mrs Seddon and Miss Seddon, was witnessed by many thousands of people, but no official demonstration of farewell was made, everything having apparently been said at the citizens’ luncheon on Saturday.

THE TENTH CONTINGENT. Christchurch, April 16, At a meeting of the executive tonight regarding the send-off of the Tenth contingent it was arranged to give the men supper in the Agricultural Hall on Friday, The Hon. Messrs Walker, Hall-Jones, Carroll and Sir J. G. Ward have promised to be present, also Major-General Babington and staff. Un Saturday the Contingent will march from the Camp through the city entraining at noon for Lyttelton.

THF NINTH CONTINGENTWellington, April J 5. Private D. Merry, Waimale, of the Sixth Contingent, has sailed for homo, invalided. Privates Andrews (Timam) and Hornig (Wellington) are both convalescent. News has been received of the arrival of the troopship Kent at Durban with the South Island portion of the Ninth New Zealand Contingent.
