Terrible Railway Accident.

EIGHTH CONTINGENT. THIRTEEN KILLED AND THIRTEEN INJURED. Auckland, April 15. A cable message has been received by the Governor slating that a train conveying the Eighth Contingent, who were proceeding from Din ban to the front met with an accident at Mackavi. Thirteen n.Qn were killed and thirteen injured, but no officers were killed or injured. It is understood that none of the men injured or killed belonged to the North Island Battalion. There are no particulars to show how the accident happened. Wellington, 'April 15. 'The Acting Premier received the following cable message early thife morning from South Africa through the Governor:—r The following were killed in a railway accident at Maclmvi on April 12th : Troopers J. On Tuesday morning Mr, N. Thomas received the following telegram from Sir Joseph Ward :—“ It is with deep regret that I . have to convey to you the intelligence that your son 6114 Private L. N.
