Cricket.
The Waimate school team paid a visit to Oamaru on Saturday to play a match with the Waitaki High School. The weather was excellent, but the wicket was a trille slow. Waimate took the field first, and got their opponents out for the moderate score of 56 ; the only ono to reach double figures being Brown, who succeeded in obtaining 26 runs. The Waimate boys excelled in their fielding and bowling, Hayes capturing five wickets for 7 runs. The Waimate team then went in to bat, and only managed to put up 32 runs, G. J. Goldstone and C. Eoweraker being the only ones to reach double figures. The reception given to the visiting team left nothing to bo desired.
A match will be played at the Park this 'afternoon, between a team from the school and the local club. Play commences at 2 p.m. sharp. In view of the match to be played at Easter against the Sydenham and Addington team, all members are requested to attend practice. The visitors arrive on Saturday morning, the 29th insfe., and the match will be started at 10 o’clock sharp on that day and bo continued on Easter Monday.
