Before Major K<*ddell, S.M. Saturday, February 22:i'd. ; ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. . A young man named Clear was charged . with attempting Vo commit suicide at Waimate on the 2nd instant He pleaded guilty,, and was ordered to find a surety of £2O that ha would come up for sentence when called upon.. The surety Was furthcoming. . AFFILIATION CASK. In the case Loper v. Joseph J. Johnson, an application, that defendant should contribute to the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Mr Hamiluin appeared for the complainant. After the evidence pf complainant and witnesses had been taken, an order was made that defendant should pay 7s a w-ek until the child is fourteen yeru’j of age ; abo, 3a exp rises and £2 2s solicitor’s fee ; defendant and one surety to enter into.a recognisance of £6O for fulfilment of the order.
