London, December 18.

j Lord Kitchener's weekly report states that thirty-one Boers had been killed, seven wounded, 372 bad been taken prisoners, and forty-eight bad surrpn'dared ; also that 366 rifles and 17,650 I rounds of ammunition had been captured. The report adds that satisfactory progress is being made, and that the troops are irr excellent spirits. Krnitzinger, in attempting to cross the block-house line near Hanover road, was severely wounded and captured, with two adjutants. A number of others v/eig seriously wounded.

Twelve hundred Foot Guards are paring to embark for South Africa in the middle of January. The Delagoa Bay railway has • been reopened to civil traffic at rates prevailing prior to the war. A veteran corps, of yeomanry anct colonials who were previously at the front is being formed at Bhornoliffe for South Africa. One hundred men have already enlisted.

Captain Carrie and Mr J. S. HorsfaU yesterday interviewed Mr Barton on the question.of sending more troops to South Africa.
