Water Supply for Waimate.

At the Borough Council meeting last evening letters were received from two insurance companies, stating that they were not leniing money on water works as security. The chairman looked up the latest statutes, which showed that the. Loans to Local Bodies Department could lend no more than £2OOO in any oue year. He said that the issuing of debentures was the only way left of raising the money, and these would not likely be taken up. However, he thought they should not throw up the matter without having another try. He suggested that a committee be set up to discuss the matter further. The Finance Committee were appointed to go into the matter and report to next meeting.
