At the usual fortnightly sale of skins, wool, and fat held on Wednesday, the catalogues were, as is usual at this time of the year, somewhat small. The e was a good aitei. d-nce of the trade, and prices were about on a par with those ruling at late sales. Botchers’ three quarterbreds, 2- sd, 2s Bd, 3s lOd, 3s, 3s 2d to 3s 5d ; di:to balfbieds. to 3s 2d ; ditto merinos, 2s lOd, 2s lid, 3s to 3s 4>l ; farmers’ ti.ree-quarterhreds, Is 6d, Is Bd, Is lid, 2s 5d tu 2s 9d; ditto halfbreds, Is 41, Is sd, Is 7d. Is lOd, 2s 6d. 3s, 3s Id to 3s 2d, Crossbreds at per lb, 2d, 2£d to 2Jd ; merino, 4d, 4£d to 4|d. A small lot of wool sold at 2d per lb ; and some fat at 15s, 16s, 16s 6d, to 17s per cwt, THE BURNSIDE MARKET. Dunedin, December 4. Cattle.—l 34 head of fat cattle were yarded, including some very prime heavy cattle, but the greater majority were inferior tn medium. Competition was keen, and last week’s prices were maintained. Well finisued cattle sold at £l2 7s 6d, one bullock that broke away from the sh .w £l3 2s 6d, good £lO to £ll 10s, m-drum £8 10s to £9 17s 6d, others £6 5a to £8 7s 6d, very heavy heifers £lO medium £7 to £8 10s, others £5 to £6 153. {Sheep.—l73l fat sheep were penned, the majority being wethers. Thedemand was fair, but prices were not quite so good as la t week. Best wethers in the wool sold up to 19s, medium 15s 9d to 17s, best, shorn 15s 6d to 17s, medium 12s 9d to I4s 6d, heavy shorn 15s 3d. In lambs, 207 were penned. The demand was brisk, and prices were fully 2s 6d per head higher than last week. Best lambs fetched 13s to 14s 6d, medium 10.< 6d to 12s 9d. Pigs.—l 62 pigs were yarded. Prices ruled firm at late rates, suckers selling at 7s to 10s, slips 12s to 15-, stores 17s to 225, porkers 27s fid to 345, baconers 36s to 41s, heavy pigs 58s. DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. Wheat. There is a considerable demand for good milling wheat, of which there is evidently a scarcity. Medium quality is attracting more attention, while there are many eager buyers for fowl wheat., which is in short supply. Prime milling wheat is quoted at 2s 9£d to 2s medium do 2s 8d to 2s 9d,, whole fowl wheat 2a 6d to 2s 7£d, broken and inferior 2s 3d to 2s fid (ex store, sacks in). # Oats. Business has been confined almost entirely to local requirements, which apparently absorb all the best lin-. s obtainable. There is little, or no enquny for other than good heavy feed and milling. Prime milling is quoted at 2s 4£d to 2s 51, good to best teed 2a 3d to 2s 4d, inferior to medium 2a Id to 2s 31 (ex store, sacks extra). Barley.—The market is still without animation. Prime malting is quoted (nominally) at 3s 3d to 3s fid, feed le fid to Is 8d per bushel (sacks extra). AUSTRALIAN MARKETS, Sydney, December 4. Wheat, chick, 2s 8d ; milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9d. Flour, £6 to £6 15s. Oats, local and Algerian, 2s ; New Zealand prime B, 2s lid. Barley, Erglish fepd, 2s lOd. Bran, Bj|d. Pollard, 9|d. Potatoes, £3 12s 6d to £4. Onions, £3 15s to £4 10s. Butler, creamery, 9^'l. Cheese, New Zealand, 9d to lOd. The above quotations are those ruling between merchant and retailer, and do not represent the slightly lower values obtained by brokers.
