Sydney, December 4. In the match England versus 22 New England, Maclaren won the toss for the"first lime of the tour, and went in. The innings closed for 251 runs ; Hayward 23 and Gunn (not but) 119 were the chief scorers. Cooper took six wickets for 115. December 5< The New England 22 made 111 runs ; Finlayson 26 was top scorer. The wore seven consecutive ■* ducks.’ Jessop took four wickets for 0, and Blythe four for four. W AIM ATE V. TIMARU. A match was played at the Timaru Athletic Grounds on Thursday between the Waimate and Timaru clubs, and resulted in a win for the latter by fiftytwo runs The wicket was very difficult in the first innings, and the scores were consequently low on both sides. In the second innings the wicket played better, and at one time it looked os though Waimate might win, but the last wickets fell rapidly, and the whole side was out a quarter of an hour before time.
