Waikakahi School Committee.
A meeting of the above committee took plkce on Wednesday night at Mr Don’s house, all. the members being present. It was resolved to urge the Education Board to commence the erection of th«? school at once, otherwise householders in the district would not be able to keep their promises jt» carting building material, in consequence of the busy time coming on. Mr Horsham, secretary, drew the committee’s attention to the fact that the Board’s secretary had written a letter, dated October 9, to Mr Diroa as chairman, asking that gentleman what steps the committee had taken. The clerk then read a copy of a letter to the Board’s secretary which the committee instructed him to write on July 31, 1901, giving full particulars of what householders and committee hod done and had promised to do. B» the Board’s letter of the 9th October it would appear to the committee that he had not written to tha Board as he had been instructed. Mr O’OoQiJor (chairman) said he was iu the same pod turn as the clerk ; he had written to the En-rd advising it of his election as chairman cx the committee in July last, and on October 9 Mr Dixon was addressed as chairman. Evidently the Boaru was forgetful. Ultimately ir. was resolved to write the Board, advising them to look up previous correspondence from the committee, when the information asked for in tlidr memorandum cf the 9th October, would be found to the minutest detail. Accounts having been passed for payment, and a voce ot thanks to the chair, and the same compliment to Mrs Don for providing refreshments, the committee rose.
