London, November 7. Lord Kitchener, reporting on the Brakenslaagte affair, states that the Boers got nothing 'but gnns. Forty* four Boers were killed, and a hundred wounded, including General Chris Botha. The St, Petersburg Official Gazette states that Bassia is supplying twenty thousand horses for South Africa. General lan Hamilton will proceed to South Africa as Lord Kitchener’s chief of staff. November 8. Henceforth voluntary surrenders will not be accepted. All Boers taken will be considered prisoners of war and deported. Four hundred Grenadier and Cold* stream Guards, 800 Fusiliers, and Others have embarked at Southampton for South Africa. General Baden-Powell starts for South Africa on November 16th. In a three-column letter to the Times SirW. V. Harcourt assails the conduct of the war and the treatment of prisoners and rebels. He suggests no alternative except by inferentially urging : the concession of all Boer claims. November 9. , In an engagement at Dedrog, neat Vryheid, on Tuesday, Lieutenant Chriop and Privates Harrison and ■ Gang bey were killed, and four privates were wounded. All belong "to- the Fifth Victorian Contingent. Ottawa, November 8. Canada has reminded England that the offer of a fresh contingent made in April is still open. /
