Hospital Board.
A meeting of the Hospital Board was held on Wednesday, Messrs Sinclair (chair), InksteV, Douglas, Koss, Walker, and Hardie being
present. The surgeon's report showed that 7 and 5 females had been in at last return, 13 males and 5 females had been admitted during the month, 12 males and 5 females had been discharged, 1 male and 1 female had died, leaving 7 males and 4 females Btill under treatment.
I The matron reported that £2 had been paid during the month. Tbe subsidy on la*t year's subscription had come to hand. 1 A loiter wa3 read from the Hon. W. J. Steward, »sking for information re the amount raised in the Waimate county and borough for hospital purposes and the sunonut paid back to Waimate hospital, and the amount of charitable aid" paid. Mr Walker said that the statements of charitable aid given in the district were not right, as they included that money raised in the district and spent by the Waimate Ladies' Benevolent Society. Three letters were received with reference to the grates suggested by Dr Barclay at last meeting. All replies were to the i-ffiCt that the grates were excellent.

Members were of opinion that the Government should establish the longtalked of homes for consumption without delay. It was decided to fall in with the Nupiei Board's KULrg"stinn. The washerwoman applied for an increase to 7s (id per week for the hosoical washing. The increase was agreed to. Tiie Postmaster of South Canter bury wrote that if the money for the installation of the telephony system in Waimate was not paid forthwith legal proceedings would be taken. It was resolved to decline to pay the account until an explanation is given of how £3O had been quoted and .£4O 17s charged for the installation. Mr Inkier, for the visitors, reported everything satisfactory except the flower beds and on the paths.
Messrs Ross and Walker were appointed visitors for the mon b. Accounts amounting to £JI 9s 4d were passed for payment, and the lioard rose.
