The Ocean Mail Services

The Sydney Morning Herald, commenting on the New Zealand House of Representatives adopting proposals for intercolonial and Vancouver mail services, says that Sydney is directly interested in them. The State will be glad to give all possible help to New Zealand in the matter. The Federal Government have received a letter from Mr Seddon inquiring whether, in the event of New Zealand failing to arrange with Mr Sprockets, the Commonwealth would be willing to despatch mails via Suez, provided that contribution were made for the seivices rendered. It is understood that the Commonwealth is agreeable to meet New Zealand’s wishes.
