(from our own correspondent ) MORVEN. Rain, or rather the want of it, is the chief topic amongst the farmers just now, and if it does not come soon it will go hard with some of the early sown crops. A traction engine and roller have been rolling the shingle on the road leading from Morven to the main road for some days now, and they have made a splendid job of it. A little of the same treatment on the road from the Waihao bridge to Morven would not be amiss, as it is in a very bad state just now.
The first meeting of our Band of Hspe is to be held to-night (Thursday) and promises to be a success, several performers from Waiimite and Stud holme, with the local talent, going to make up an interesting programme.
Several new buildings are in coarse of erection here, and the timber is on the ground for several more. The school is nearly finished, end, what with paint outside and varnish ins ide presents quite a nice appearance.
