Magistrate’s Court.
Waimatb, Tuesday, October 22. (Before Mr W. Petit, J.P.) J. Lang was charged with having no lawful visible means of support, and was committed to Timaru gaol for one month. / Wednesday, October 28. (Before Messrs J. Sinclair and B. Nicol, J’s.P.) J. Turner was charged with being drunk and with using obscene language in Queen street on Tuesday evening. Constable Christie said that accused was drunk on the evening mentioned, and made use of most objectionable language when several ladies were passing. Accused’s father was present, and asked for leniency, as his son was easily led astray. The Bench severely cautioned accused, and convicted and discharged him on the first charge. On the second he was fined ss.
A prohibition order was granted against accused, on the application of his father, for twelve months.
