The Ohmese. demand thud. loceign business establishments - at Pekin be abolished, as it was not a treaty port, originated through a merchant protest* ing against the octroi duty and alleging that the goods so dealt with were intended for the Legations, Ching rbphcd that there would be no octroi if the goods had been ordered by the Legations at treaty pork.
