Our Volunteers.

STUDHOLME MOUNTED RIFLES. The Studholme Mounted Rifles will go into camp about the 21th of this month at Mr Douglas’s, Waihao Downs. To wind up the camp a programme of useful sports has been drawn up and keen interest is being taken in the various events.

The following items are already on t ; _The Rescue Race, Balaclava MMee, Lloyd Lindsay, Best horse over tiiree flights of Hurdles up to 3ft. 6in. in height, Night Alarm, three furlong flat Race. Led horse Race, and a Tug of War andsaveral'other events if time will permit. These events, unusual in this district, should create a good deal of public interest and be of great practical value to the men. The Shooting Committee have chosen the following to represent the Corps in the match against the Waimate Rifles on Thursday next,:—Capt. Garland, Lieut. Studholme, Sergt. Wain, Corps. Hayinan and Jones, Troopers A. and W. .Lindsay, W. and H. Roberts, J. and C. Manchester, A. J, Manchester, C. Hayman, J. Atwill, Junr. and ,T. Twomey. Emergencies:—Sergt. Denbar, and Trpr. Maindonald. The conditions are seven shots at each of 200, 300 and 5.00 yds., with one optional sighter. The match is to commence at 1.80. p m. sharp.

WAIMATE RIFLES. The following members will represent the Waimate Rifles in a team match against the Studholme Mounted r R flaa on Thursday afternoon Lieuts.' Hurst and Jackson, Col. -Sergt. Stevenson, Sergts. Saunders, Smith and Mines, Corps. Gotystone and Porter, Lee.-Corps. Wilson, Nicol and W. Butcher, Privs. Bennington, Williams, Inkster, Wilce, Dash, E. Blake and Bateman. The match is to start at 2 p.m., and plain clothes are to be Worn.
