Obituary.

Mi' Frank Slee, well-known in this town, died at Westport on Saturday at the ago of 63 years. Deceased cama to Waimate in 18G3, leaving the Saltwater Creek Hotel, of which he was licensee, to take over the Waimate Hotel. This he held for several years, and was very popular. Pie then took up the business of com mission agent, securing interests in several stores in town. Ho was the principal shareholder in the company which started the Waitatigi Tribune, Waimate's first newspaper, under the editorship of Mr Cumraings. He was also secretary to the Gorge Railway Company, and occupied the Mayoral chair for two years, giving tho greatest satisfaction. Mr Slee left a large family, several of whom. Messrs Frank and Harry Slee and Mrs Rnddenclan, of tho Hook, still reside in Waimate district.
