Mr E. Norton Taylor, representing Hnyward and Co., Cbristchuroh, was in town no Tuesday. Mr R. Goldstone left for Sonth Africa by Tuesday's express, a number o? friends going to the station to »ee him off. Detective Fitzgerald was in town on Tuesday in connection with the supposed diiappearaace of eight bags of sugar from the railway station. , Sir James Prendergast, of New Zealand, has reached Adelaide ou his return from London. Captain Moore, of the Royal Artillery, who takes up a position in the Defence Department, arrived at Wellington on Tuesday by the Wakwui. Bishop Goe, of Melbourne, has re. tfgned. The present indications are that a s suooessor will be chosen in Australia. Uuhop Julius, of Christchurch, is in dudod in the list mentioned. Mr J. Wilson, manager of the Timaru Poat, was in town yesterday, leaving by express. Mr J. Ecolei, who hwbeen telegraphist in the local post office for some time, has been transferred to Mr Hanson, from Tituaru, will be Btationed here.
