\ Wellington, August 13. A meeting of member sot both branche? of the Legislature was held t-* day 0 consider a proposal to erect a national memorial to the Sir John M. K nz e. Lhe Hon. W. J. Steward presided, and t iere was a large atfenda> ce, A com Biddable sura was raised in the room, and it was intimated that the Cabinet would give a donation to tbe fund. A committee was appointed, with power to add to their number, to carry out the necessary arrangements to suitably com memo ate the memory of the kte Sir John M< Kenan-* by a memorial or others wise The Hod. W. J. Steward was elected permanent chairman of the c mniitteo, the Hon. A-. Lee Smith treasurer, and the Hon, J. R : gg secretary. The proposal made by the Hon. A. Lee Smith that the memorial should take the : form of a bairn to be erected on the top of Pnketapu Hill* near Heathfield, waj generally approved. It wasalsd suggest id 1 that a host of tbe late Sir John McKenzie should be placed in tbe Parliamentary ■ lobby.
