Sydney, August 12. News is rce ivtd that the ‘Gh-rmaii cmiser Cormoran landed parties of bailors at St, Mathias Island in connection with the murder of Moncke. The natives were surrounded and surprised, but fought determinedly, eighty of them being killed. Seventeen pri-oners were taken and sentenced to drportation and hard labour on plantations. Another outrage is reported from Netf Britain. The natives attacked a German trader nanvd Wolff and killed bid wife ‘a id a native boy. Wolff defended himself until the arrival of assistance.
