The British Liberal Party.
London, July 17. A remarkable letter has been received by the City, Liberal Club from Lprd Rosebery,; who declared that h<would never voluntarily re-enter party < politics. The cleavage of the party was permanent, and could not be glossed over by phrases. The evolu tion of the Empire and the Imperial feeling produced irreconcileable divergences, and it was impossible to conduct the party on old principles. The Liberals would only become a power when their minds were made up on • Imperial questions. The whole Empire rallied on the declaration of war, but the Liberals took the impossible attitude of neutrality. An open mind spelt impotence. The Daily Nows urges the Liberals not- to listen to Lord Rosebery’s wrecking counsels.
