Electric Light for Christchurch.

o Christchurch, July 9. Mr R. Hay’s report on the feasibility of harnessing the river Waimakariri to supply powbr and lighting for the City came before the City Council last night. Ho advised the Corporation to obtain the necessary powers with a view to leasing or—selling a concession to a syndicate. It wAs resolved to ask Mr W. W. Collins, M.H.R., to take charge of a Bill giving the Council the necessary power to undertake a scheme.
