The Eyreton Tragedy.
Christchurch, June 26. Very few additional particulars have been gathered with regard to the Eyceton tragedy. The house stands soma distance bafck from the road, and is surrounded by trees. No neighbours live near enough to hear any outcry by the victims. The inquest was opened to-day, out after the formal, evidence of the indentification of bodies had been taken, it was adjourned for a W^fe ‘far thfe man McLean has not been found, but a man answering .to his description, driving a horse has been seen at Oxford, Waddington and other places in the district within the last day or two. Ashburton, Juno 27. McLean was arrested at Tinwald r this morning by' Constable Eade. He confessed to the Eyreton murder. He will be brought before the Court this morning. . The Eyreton ’murrterer, m confessing his crime, said that he had received a letter from Home, which had unhinged his mind and caused him to commit the murder. He has, however, a ’bad police record. -Ho appeared before the Magistrate’s Court this morning, and was remanded to Christchurch. A sensational dream by a local hotelkeeper is said to have contributed to the arrest.
