Mr Seddon Eulogised.

Wellington, June 20,

Mr Seddon, looks forward to a conference of Premiers in the Old Country during the time of the King's coronation.

I An article in this morning's Times I offers the Hon. the Premier the heartiest congratulations on his consistent refusal to claim for himself any of the Royal favours offered for a number of years past, and says that bad Mr Seddon accepted a title of any kind it would have been a plain infiujation that he had become indifferent, and resolved to seek a career in one or other of those spheres of Imperial service for which he is suited. As he has not chosen to take a titular distinction, the Times looks upon it as gratifying evidence that he thinks the Premiership of New Zealaud preferable to the Governorship of Fiji or Africa, and that he has determined to stand by the people of this country so so long as they show confidence in him. This is the spirit which animated the late Mr Gladstone, and beyond all doubt it was part of the secret of the great statesman's popularity with the masses.

This article reads curiously in view of the fact that the Times a day or two back was beseeching Mr Seddon to go to Africa or Fiji,
