Waimate Brass Band.
The members of the Waimate Brass Band held a meeting on Tuesday evening to consider the present unsatisfactory state of the Band. Mr Harwood occupied the chair. The Balance sheet showing a credit in hand was adopted. The members present felt that after sticking to the Band through thick and thin and paying off the debt on the instruments that ..hey could not stand aside and see the Band go under. A motion was accordingly passed that the Baud be curded on. As the principal difficulty in the way of doing this is the securing of a convenient and suitable practis room a committee was appointed to make arrangements if poss’ble for a home for the Band. A pupil’s class is to be started as soon as possible, Mr Harwood undertaking the duties of instructor in addition to those of Bandmaster. Mr C. Dash was reappointed b-acretary, Mr L. Reeves Custodian, and a general committee was al>o appointed. It was decided that all intending pupils apply to the Secretary. A vote of thanks to past officers and to the chair terminated a very successful meeting. ■
