Burglary at St. Andrews.
On Monday afternoon a man named William Evans went into the camp of a mwi named Russell, at St. Andrews, and stole £2-1 in notes. The thief rode towards Makikihi. A wire was sent to Waimate and Constable O'Halioran went out, but'as no description of the man was sent the constable's task was somewhat difficult. Numbers of people had met a man who might answer to the vague description, and in different parts. Ho appeared to be doubling about on the Makikihi roads, iiimlly uiiki-g die railway station and travrl!ing to Oam.tru. The police in that town were communicated with, and on Tuesday morning Sergeant O'Gvady arres.'.i'd the man, who, on being charged with the theft, admitted it.
