Redcliff School Committee Election.

About twenty-five bondholders and several visitors attended the annual meeting of householders, interest being taken in '•ha he\ : en yeiu:em*n nad iSeeu previously nonvwiaierl, h<ic~l r,he late chairman, Mr David Uos.-i, unci ported a notice on the school door that thfse seven would be ' declared duly fleeted at the householders' meeting. This was evidently a breach of the Education Act, as such an action wuuid " pracbicaily disenfranchise the eiec tors of their right to nominate and vote for adaitioua' candidates on : the night of the meeting of howseh ):d.-ii'S, as provided for by cansj 9 of tho " School CoLuiniiteas Election Act, 18;) I." Mr W. McGregor was voted to the chair, and caiied upon Mr David il-;ws, chairman of tho outg >ing comiiiinfce, to givo an account of cueir proceedings. former gentleman retired in favour of Mr Henderson, The meeting cordially acknowledged this aofc of generosity and Mr McDonald's former valuable services asr /i member of the oommittee. The chairman then formally declared Messrs J. fcteofct, J. Breen, W. McGregor, A. Outhborfc, Donaid Ross, 0. Diokson and J. Henderson duly elected. iiearsy votes of thanks were passed to the scrutineers (Messrs Hector McLean and A. Watt) and to the chairman of the meeting (M- W. McQregor) for the tact and ability which ho had shown in conducting the proceedings. Mr W. MeGS-regor proposed and Mr Cuthbert seconded, on behalf of parents and pupils, a hearty vote of thanks to the teachers (Mr and Mrs Goodove) for the satisfactory and popular discharge of their duties, as shown by the Inspector';-* reports and the opinion of the parents.
