Waimate Hospital Trustees.
The monthly meeting of above was hehl yesterday; present Messrs J. Sinclair (chair) and Messrs A twill, Nicol, Studholmo, Ross, Hardie and Douglas, The meeting had to be held over from 2 p.ra. till after 3 p.m., as the County Council was still sitting and some of its members are on the Board. !
Mr Douglas thought it advisable to fix a later time in the day.
It was decided to meet in future at 4 o’clock,
The surgeon’s report showed that daring the mouth eight males and ten females had been treated, and four males and three females discharged, leaving four males and . seven females still under treatment.
The Matron’s report was read and approved.
The clerk reported having received £8 6s, being balance of receipts for memorial fund,, with which it was desired an invalid chair should be purchased for the. Hospital, to‘be known as theVictoria Memorial Chair. Request to be act© 1 on.
Correspondence had been received from the D. 1.0. and A. J. White’s furnishing department, enclosing prices for new and second-hand invalid chairs. A letter was received from the Hospital Surgeon disapproving of the prices quoted for thearticles catalogued and suggesting further enquiries.—-This course was agreed to. The doctor made a request for a skeleton for teaching purposes for the nurses/ . Mr Inkster wanted Jo know what use a /skeleton t would he to nurses. did not set bones. w - ; Members explained that it was necessary to learn anatomy to be fully qualified. It was decided; to procure the skeleton. The secretary of the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board forwarded a chequefor £255 2s, being balance of Trustees’ demand for year ended March 31st, 1901, ,- Messrs Atwill, Studholme and the Surgeon were appointed a committee to attend to the purchase of the articles required and ( approved,; :' Miss -M. D. V, Beckett was' selected from three applicants for. the position of probationer nurse in the hospital. Accounts amounting to £67 7a 2d were passed for payment.
