Accidents & Fatalities.

Ottawa, February 18. The miners who were imprisoned by fire in a colliery at Cumberland, British Columbia, were suffocated. They consisted of 27 whites, 20 Chinese and 9 Japanese. Auckland, February 18. At a fire at Dargaville on Saturday, James Carmody, a pensioner, was burnt to death in bed. Others escaped in their night clothes, and nothing was saved. The servants had a narrow escape. Two boarders, Barry and Gemmell, were badly burned, and tyere removed to the hospital.
