TROUBLE AT THE CONCERT.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The Kinematograph Compuny made its first appearance in Waimate at the Oddfellows’ Hall, on Thursday night, before a rather poor audience. Through some fumbling on the part of the manager the “ show ’ did not cammence until 8.30 p.m. or 8.45 p.m. Then Mr Henry Baxter made an appearance and just gave a reminder to the small boys at the back to keep quiet. This they took like lambs. However, when well on in the programme, our noble friend was halfway through the singing of “On Gle .coa,” which was really laughable —no voice whatever, he looked uuro like Oom Paul than the plain Henry Baxter. I noticed that he was staring rudely at some people sitting in the front seats, and who were laughing quietly amongst ■ themselves, and most likely not taking ■ any heedof the singer, when the “man” stopped and made some boorish remarks, viz. i “If those people cannot behave themselves I will ask them to leave the hall; this is our show not yours,” at the same time pointing like -•a cad to the people. Later on he came -down and told them to go out, which they did, with others who were not asked. Well now, I would like very much to see Mr Henry Baxter do that sort of thing in a town. He would get -each a turn that he would leave that .-night or first thing next morning.—l apa, eto.,
