Imperial Troops in Australia.
Sydney, January 14. The Indian troops sailed for Brisbane last night. They had a cordial send-off. Sir W. Jjyne thanked them for their presence at the Ctmm m wealth. The Imperial troops leave foe Brisbane to-day. Mr Barton, addressing the men, emphasised that without ink and without parchment, there was a bond between all parts of the Empire, which means not what is called aggressive militarism, because there was no military aggression, but an understood compact, which means that whenever any part '-of the Empire is attacked every nerve and every sinew of the Empire would be strained to repel the attack. Over £IOOO has been gathered in aid of the Imperial gunners injured by the gun accident. Melboubne, January 15. The Government is arranging for a big review of the Imperial troops on their arrival in Melbourne, Wellington, January 15. The Deputy-Governor has re* ceived the following telegram from the Secretary of state lor the Colonies; — “ I have much pleasure in informing you that the Secretary of State for war has agreed to the Imperia troops, now in Australia, visiting New Zealand.”
