DEMONSTRATION COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Demonstration Committee was held after the delegates' meeting. Present — His "Worship the Mayor (chair), Messrs Akhurat (secretary) Middleto*j,Milaom, Walker, Colville, Sinclair, Hamilton, Mafchias, Philip, and the Rev. McKenzie Gibson. An apology was received from Mr Franklin. The secretary reported that the alulling subscriptions liad come in fairly well. Mr Middlefcon hftd promised lemonade and raspberry to tho Taiue of JE4 10s, and Mr Milsoin 36 gallons of lemonade. These offers were aocepted with thanks. It was decided to hare gate tickets printed and placad on sale all over the town. The committee resolved to have 100 posters and 1000 handbills printed for distribution. Mr Hamilton road a telegram from the Hon. J. r^. Ward asking whether the Sohool Committee were intending to buy any medals, which were to be struck to commemorate peaoe. They could be supplied at Is 9<3 par dozen. A discussion took place as to the moans of raising money for this pur pose, suggestions being made for the School Committees to provide for them, for the uhlldrea to pay for themj or for the oomnaitte« to provide them. the;, intended to hold a local display. Those who went fiuther afield would probably go to O iLnaru, as tho train arrangements would ba more convenie it.
