CHEAP MUSIC.
A.n interesting experiment is on its itul at Battersea (London), where music — vocal and instrumental- -is boing supplied to the people free of charge. The concerts are of the onliuary character, neither too high clats nor jet very low, the musicians, bping local amatems, assisted by artists of repute. No charge is niuKs for admisbion, nor is any restriction placed upon the froe entrance ot the people, there being no tickets and no leaervpfl for specially favoured folk. The plan <toenaa to be working satisfactory, as fay a,s its appreciation by tho in habitants ib concerned, as each oi the concerts that have beon given up to the end of March wns well attended. The scheiiio is a tentative one, and whether it will be made permanent will be decided by the ratepayers after the autumn is over.
