Whoa t.lra Minister appeared, Mrs Jardiu p v odnced a 'horsewhip, and endeavoured to chastise him for holding as she said, pro-Boer opinions. Since this occurrence, the heroine has daily received messages from people >in \nd°lySG,jaiiited locoliiijs. cernrnendmg her for what they term her " courageous and spirited " action. Ono ginhing correspondent pens fcbis commentary : — "' You are true as steel to the good old flag ; yon* thoughts and ideas of nationhood and Imperialism rank you as a Peeress amongst women, Queen cf the Antarctic Sea, and Empress of the Southern Cross." Anoch-u-correspondent — a lady — concludes her epistle thus-: — " Yours in true admiration and noble sympathy — Louisa,." Then " A Workin fe .Man " tenders hin congratulations to Mr<j Jaidm for having " whipped a jolly fish politician. 1 ' Amongst tho-ia who called and personally thanked Mrs Jardin was an old one-armed soldier, Richard Shelby, late of the Somersetshire Light Infantry. A private offer of JSIO h i; ts been made by a gentleman in the city for the whip, nut the owner states that she will adhere to her intention of submitting it to public auction. Mrs Jardin states that she promptly committed these epistles to the dames.
