Messrs Palliser and Jones, of Wel1 'Iragton, tendered at M5,95Q for the 'whole work, the proportions being as follows -.—180,000 tons of reliable 'blocks at 3s 7d par ton, total, JE32.250 ; 1200 ft of staging, £10,000; tramline, •3 miles 82 chains or thereabouts, £3700, total, £45,950. Price for extra rabble blocks to bo used for the arm •of the breakwater, 4a per ton. Tha iguarantora in this case were Mr MeGrill •of Wellington, and Mr E. Chapman, <of Waitohi. The only other tender was that of Mr Allan .McGuire, Wellington, who l sent his tender by wire. The price in { this case was J948,865, apportioned as follows :— Bubble blocks, £37,500 ; 'tram line, JEoOOO ; and staging JSG36S, total, £48,865.
