LIBRARY MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Libi^ry subscribers was held last evening, a good number' being present. A meeting of the committee vas held before the general meeting, \o approve the annual report and balpn> > sheet. The outgoing committee su^gefeteti,tb.at the financial year end on December , 316t, so as to allow of the Government subsidy to be shown on the balance-sheet in the year in which it is received, and generally to facilitate the keeping of accounts. The committee have much pleasure in stating that th.c .prospects of the ensuing year are better than they have been for some years past, considering that the^e is £14 to spend on new hooka, and thoy confidently anticipate that the proposed bazaar will largely add to the funds of the institution. The annual meeting was then held, at which die report and balance-sh a ef as read, were adopted. Mr Hamilton was unanimously re elected president, and the following gentlemen were elected a committee : — KevMcKenzie Gibson, and Messrs Dean, Scofcf;, Menzies, Wills M. Smith, O'Connor, Mann, and GK Wilson. It was decided to end the financial year on December 21st, the annual meeting to be held in January. On the motion of Mr Scott and the Rev. McKenzie Gibson, itwas decided to have a balance shoet, including all assets and liabilities prepared for next meeting, and that Mr Baxter be asked to value the building. It wn*» decided to admit the duxes of each school to the library free. The selection of new books was left to the committee as a whole, the secretary to call a meeting as soon as lists axe available. The president and treasurer wer« appointed to sign cheques. The sum of £2 10s was voted to th« Bazaar Committee to hay material to" \votlc up for the bazaar, and the meetiug ended- / J — sO^ /
