Yesteiuay, he "visited the Maoris at the Waihao. living a thorough knowledge of the Na\ye language, Mr Spencer was well recerwi, an d the Maoris contributed liberal^ to the funds of the society. Last evening, the rev. gentleman gave a lecture 1^ the Temperance Hail on the work of\he society in Malayasia. He showed \ number of fine lanterh pictures, illnV.rative of his, subject. Mr Wm. Allaiirjresided. There was a large attendant and the lecturer was well received. \ collection in aidbt the society wasVaken wp. On the motion of the \tev Mr Barnebt, second by Mr Gmhaua, a vote of tbanks was accordVd to Mr Spencer for his highly interesting address.
