DtrifKDiv, Feb. 14. Twenty remounts lor the men of the first ■contingent wore sent by the train to day from Dunedin, to be shipped by the Knight Templar. They will iemain at Oaimiru to-night. One of the best of the horses Is a brown gelding for Major Kobin, a gift o£ Balclutha residents.

Feb. 15. A very fine lot of horses for the Otago compatoy of tho fourth confcin gent arrived from the South to-night and were much admired- There are now 125 horses on the Hue. The men who passed the medical examination to-day went into camp in +he evening, and there are now 85 men under canvas. About 21 men were put through the riding te^t this morning. There were several not up to the standard, but they will be given another chance. Foot drill is progressing satisfactorily. The men who are now coming from the country districts are of fine physique, and seem likely to displace a number of town volunteers. The Premier is now ranking arrangements for a steamer to take the fourth contingent from New Zealand to South Africa. The details require confirmation by the owners oi the vessel in London. No difficulty is anticipated, and it is expected that the vessel will be in the colony by March 15th. The steamer is elas&ed Al at Lloyds, is of 4400 tons, having accommodation for 300 men and 500 horses. She can easily stenm 10 knot* nor horn*.
