BOOKS AND IUUNTED PAI'EES. •All places, £d for each 2oz or fi action thereof. Christians or any other seasonable or complimentary cards come under this head.

HOW TO PACK. A book packet may be posted either "without a cover (in which case it must | aiot be fastened in any way) oi in a covci entirely open at one or both ends. J t may ibetiedat the ends with stiing, but the string must be easy to unfasten.
XIMITS OF BI2E AND WEIGHT. The limits of size for book-packets fire ISin. in any direction. If made up in the .form of a roll, a packet may meti-,uie up to 2ft. 6in. in length and 4in. in diameter ; the weight must not exceed 4Jb
PATTEBN AND SAMPLK PACKETS. All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id ; ■every additional 2oz or fraction theieot,' on halfpenny.
magazines (not registered). All places except Queensland, halfpenny 3>er 2oz or lraction thereof. Queensland, Id pei 4oz or fiaction thereof.
magazines (registered). New Zealand, Australian colonies, -except Queensland and Western Ausf.raa, and Tasmania : Each copy, fiist Boz, J.A ; eveiy additional 4oz or fraction hereof, halfpenny. Queensland, Id for 4oz or h action hereof. Western Australia and other places, as or unreggistered maazines.
NEWSPAPERS. Town "and Inland, halipenny each. Australia, except Queensland, and outh Sea Islands, Id each. All other places, including Queensland, Id each if not exceeding 4oz, and halfpenny additional for every succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. A newspaper must not contain any •writing beyond the name and address ef 'the addressee., the initials or name and address of the sender, and any maiks or signs simply intended to call attention to passages in a text.
PARCELS. Inlana, <5d for the first lib, and 3d for •each succeeding lib or fraction thereof. > Australian Colonies, Cook, Samoan, 1 Norfolk, and Hawaiian Islands, 8d loi the £■ rillb, -and 6d for each succeeding lib or traction thereof. The post office is not, by law, responsible for any loss or inconvenience which may^ arise from the non-delivery, missending or mis-delivery of any unregisxered letter, or other postal packet, nor is it responsible for any mjuiy which a packet I may sustain during tiansmission. To guard against their being injured, all .postal packets which aie likely to suL'er irom stamping or from great pressiue should be placed in strong covers.
BEGISTBATIGN. The fee for all places is 3d. The sender of a registered article may obtain ■an acknowledgement of its due receipt by the addressee on payment, at the time of posting of the aiticle, of an " acknowledgment fee" of twopence halfpenny, in ■addition to theordinaiy registiationfee. Any letter, letter card, post card, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland .parcel will be accepted for registiation. Parcels for places beyond the colony can3iot be registered.
iATB FEE liETTEP.B. Late fee letters must bear in addition to the ordinaiy postage, Id for inland letters. 25 for letters for .Australia and the South Sea Islands. Twopence halfpenny for all other places. Id tor letter cards or ,post cards however addressed. Such letters may be posted in the .guard's -van up to the time of departure of
the train. XEIiESBAPH BATES IN NEW ZEALAND. Ordinary Telegiams. From any station to any station, For the first 12 words or less, including address and signatuie, Gd. For every additional word, Id. Urgent Telegrams. For the first 12 words or loss, including address and signature, la. For every additional word, 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
