HOW TO PACKA book paoket may be posted either without a cover (in which case it must not be fastened in any way) or in a cover entirely open at one or both ends. It may "be tied at the ends with string, but the string must be easy to unfasten.

LIMITS OF SIZE AND WEIGHT. The limits of eiza for book-packets are 18in. in any direction. If made up in the form of a roll, a packet may measure up io 2ft. <sin. in length and 4in. in diameter ; the weight must not exceed 41b.

The post office is not, by law, respon. sible for any loss or inconvenience whici may arise from the non-delivery, mis sending or mis-delivery of any unregis tered letter, or other postal packet, nor isil responsible for any injury which a packei may sustain during transmission. Te guard against their being injured, al] postal packets which are likely to suffei from stamping or from great pressure should be placed in strong covers.

REGISTBATION. The fee for all places is 3d. The aender of a registered aiticle may obtain an acknowledgement of its due receipt by the addressee on payment, at the time ol posting of the article, of an " acknowledgment fee" of twopence halfpenny, in addition to the ordinary registration fee. Any letter, letter card, post card, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland parcel will be accepted for registration. Parcels for places beyond the colony cannot be registered.

ii.TE FEE IitSTTERS. Late fee letters must bear in addition to the ordinary postage, Id for inland letters. 2dfor letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands. Twopence halfpenny for all other places. Id for letter cards or post cards however addressed. Such letters may be posted in the guard's van up to the time of departure of the train.

TELEGBAPH RATES IN NEW ZEALAND. Ordinary Telegrams. From any station to any station, For the first 12 words or less, including address and signature, 6d. For every additional word, Id. Urgent Telegrams. For the first 12 words or less, including address and signature, Is. For every additional -word. 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
