HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting of the Horticultural Society was held last evening in the Library Hall ; present — Messrs R. Nicol (chair). G. Akhurst. Howard Hamilton, Lundon, Hazleton, vJear, Dean, and Scott. An apology was received from Mr Reilly. Mi* Akhurst ! was elected a member of the comruiHee. Mr Symon notified his inability to act as judge of the extra exhibits, and Messrs Cockburn and Dean were appointed in his place. Mr N. Fiancis offered a special prize of .£1 Is to be allocated as the committee thought fit. The committee decided to give a piize for most points in the gaidener's class. Ie wae also decided to add to the catalogue in this class in pot plants, bi colour geraniums, and ivy geraniums ; in cut flowers, petumias (8 varieties), salpiglo^is (6 varieties), collection of sweet William, collection of phlox drummondi, and a collection of annuals.
