High School Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening, when B^vs. G. Barclay (chair) and AicKenzie Gibson and Medsis Howell, Studholtre, Coltmun, Barclay and Manchester were present. The bea^m ister's report showed that the roll number is 37. He thought the time had come to revise the syllabus so as to include science. A small laboratory wonld then be necessary, and for • this a room was available. It was decided .to obtain a table for the convenience of reporters. The chairman, for the Eeserves Committee, gave an abstract of the lease?, state of land etc. of the Board's tenantß. They recommended that in the case of Neal's and TaveiuUle's leaseholds no further reduction in rent be made. They considered that these two farms should be joined together , when opportunity arises. The report was adopted, and | the committee thanked for their efforts. The Exhibition Committee reported that arrangements had been made for the examination of scholars for exhibitions, and 15 schnhrs had been examined. This report was read and adopted. / After some discussion, it was decided to obtain particulars as to the fitting up of a small laboratory. The chairman stated that the revision of the syllabus mentioned by Mr Pitcaithly was a revision in the direction of enlargement and so was gratif jing as coming from the teachers thems-ives. Mr Barclay added, in connection therewith, that he had intended to move an eplargirienk of the syllabus of tl igh Schools at an early t meeting of the Education Board i| It was decided that. a copy of the report of the Reserves Committee be forwarded to each member of the Board before next meeting. Accounts amounting to £130 9s 6 I were passed and the Board rose. !
